RUGBY Africa has commended the Sables for their sportsmanship gesture, which saw them training together with Burkina Faso, who they face in a Rugby Africa Pool D encounter on Thursday.

The Sables trained with the Burkinabe on Tuesday and their move caught the eye of the continental rugby governing body.

“Zimbabwe shared a gesture of solidarity and highlighted their commitment to growing African rugby by having a training session with Burkina Faso after beating them 101-3,” tweeted Rugby Africa.

In a video shared by Rugby Africa, Sables’ coach Brandon Dawson can be seen sharing his expertise with the Stallions on the training field.

Thursday’s clash is of no significance to the Sables as they are guaranteed of finishing top of Pool D.

Tunisia was supposed to host the Pool D series, but withdrew and pulled out of the tournament altogether following a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases.

Zimbabwe will now meet Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals, while Burkina Faso face Namibia in 2022.
