JUST IN: Three succumb to Covid-19

 THREE people succumbed to Covid-19 while 192 new cases were recorded in the country in the last 24-hour reporting cycle.

All cases are local transmissions.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases fell to 207 from 225 the previous day.

There were 658 new recoveries and the National Recovery Rate was 91 percent while active cases went down to 7 297 from 7 766 the previous day.

A total of 5 423 PCR tests were done and positivity was 3.5 percent.

The only deaths were recorded in Harare and Manicaland, which had two and one respectively.

The same provinces had the highest number of new cases with 36 and 26 respectively, followed by Bulawayo and Mashonaland East which had 24 new cases each.

Masvingo recorded 19 new cases, Midlands and Matabeleland North 18 each, Matabeleland South 11, Mashonaland West nine while Mashonaland Central had the lowest seven new cases.

The vaccination programme is continuing countrywide with 30 132 people receiving their first jab bringing the cumulative for 1st dose to 2 582 705. A total of 17 035 people received their second dose bringing the cumulative second dose to 1 636 498 as at Tuesday at 4pm.

The number of new admissions has gone down and as of August 30, 2021, at 3PM, there were 156 people who were hospitalized. New admissions were 20, those that were asymptomatic were 21, those with mild to moderate symptoms were 86 and 21 had severe symptoms.

Twenty-eight were in Intensive Care Units (ICU).

“As of 31 August 2021, Zimbabwe has now recorded 124 773 confirmed cases, 113 057 recoveries and 4 419 deaths,” reads the statement from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
