SIXTY-THREE karatekas are going to be graded at the National JSKA Shotokan Karate grading ceremony at Tsholotsho Centre today.
The 63 karatekas will travel from all the provinces in Zimbabwe to be graded in Tsholotsho.
Sensei Agrippa Sibanda for the Matabeleland Karate Association said the event was going to be throughout the weekend and conducted by 10 Senseis.
“The two day grading, testing and awarding of belts is going to be conducted by a panel of 10 Senseis under the leadership of the chief instructor of the Tsholotsho Shotokan Karate Club Sensei Bryon Ndiripo,” said Sibanda.

Among the karatekas to be graded today is the current first princess of the Miss Tsholotsho beauty pageant Gugulethu Ncube who will be graded with a green belt.
“I am aiming at getting a brown belt, which is above the green,” she said.

Sibanda said he was impressed with the level of performance and participation by women karatekas.
“I was very impressed with the performance of the girl child,” said Sibanda.

John Mhangwa, the chairperson of Matabeleland Association, is also expected to make an appearance in one of the region’s biggest grading ceremonies.
Some of the karatekas that will be graded are Varaidzo Mahachi, Sichelesile Luphahla, Samantha Ganonya and Orient Nleya all being graded with the yellow belt.Clifford Ndlovu and Norman Moyo will be graded and tested for the black belt which is the highest stage of grading.
