THE Manhize Steel Plant Project is set to hit the ground running, with a $1.5 billion investment, transforming the steel production landscape as it takes shape.

The investment in the Manhize steel plant is the biggest in steel production in Sub-Saharan Africa and is located in Manhize village, Chirumhanzu District of Midlands province.

In a statement, the Government said the Dinson Iron and Steel Company (DISCO) is set to create at least 20 000 jobs and will see Zimbabwe saving at least US$500 million in steel imports.

“Out of the famed Manhize – Chikapakapa mountain range, a steel giant is arising. The giant is Dinson Iron and Steel Company (DISCO), ready to roar and churn out its maiden production of carbon steel in Manhize. A landscape that was once a dense forest and bushes has now transformed into an integrated steel plant,” reads the statement.
