ZANU-PF youths in Matabeleland North province have so far mobilised close to 30 buses and 37 trucks in three of the seven districts to transport people to the Presidential Youth Interface rally.

More than 10 000 litres of fuel have also been mobilised as the province targets 70 000 people for the fourth Interface.

The event was rescheduled from tomorrow to a date to be advised as President Mugabe has other engagements.

Zanu-PF Youth League Matabeleland North Provincial chairman Cde Mbongeni Dube told The Chronicle that the organising committee was on the ground mobilising resources for the rally.

He said all sub-committees were expected to convene today to make final preparations for the rally.

“We are not relaxing. We will continue preparing as if no date has been changed so that we are ready with everything,” said Cde Dube.

“TelOne is on the ground setting up an internet facility for live coverage of the event while we continue running around mobilising resources and people. All sub-committees will be meeting as we want everyone to remain alert so that we are ready when a new date is communicated.”

Cde Dube said Binga, Bubi and Tsholotsho districts are still compiling information on their contributions but Hwange so far has seven buses and five trucks as well as some fuel.

“Lupane district has also mobilised seven trucks and 600 litres of fuel while Nkayi and Umguza have each mobilised 10 buses and 10 trucks,” said Cde Dube.

He said the District Development Fund had availed five trucks while Politburo member, Cde Obert Mpofu, who is also Umguza MP, donated 10 000 litres of fuel.

Each of the seven districts was tasked to raise 2 000 litres of fuel as some of the donated vehicles come with no fuel.

Cde Dube paid tribute to different stakeholders including government departments for supporting the programme.

“We are following up on donations and we want to thank all stakeholders for the support they have shown,” he said.
