LEGENDARY Dynamos defender Sherperd Murape believes his South African National First Division soccer side Witbank Spurs is on track for a serious challenge for Premiership football next season.
The much-traveled gaffer joined Witbank Spurs five months ago. He brought with him a wealth of experience drawn from years of working with Dynamos, the Warriors, Black Africa in Namibia, Black Leopards and Orlando Pirates.

He believes there has been much improvement to the side and has not ruled out a chance of reaching the PSL play-offs, come end of season.

Murape said: “We are doing well even though we are not fighting for an outright championship promotion and former Highlanders marksman Ralph Matema with his experience gives us a lot of options upfront.

“This year he has started the last six games and scored five goals which is a huge achievement for a striker who has been out for a long time due to injury.”

Murape said they want to push in the league as far as possible. He is happy with the quality at his disposal.

“We have the former Young Warriors pair of Peter and Patrick (Mubaiwa) who is the team’s captain who are workaholics.

“Our priority is to get promoted and that is possible if we keep our heads up,” said the coach.

Spurs have high hopes of surprising Bloemfontein Celtic away when they meet in a Nedbank Cup in two weeks time.

Tomorrow they will battle it out with Roses United at Makhulong Stadium in a league match.
