THE Bulawayo Five-A-Side Soccer Southern Region has named Albert Mnkandla as their coach.
Philani Banda, the chairperson of the league confirmed this yesterday. The coach is expected to prepare the team for the top four teams’ clash at the end of the season when they take on teams from the Northern Region.

The winner of the tournament will be crowned national champion. Banda said there would not be any games this weekend, a move that will allow clubs to register with the league.

He also confirmed that the break would allow smooth preparations for a three-day training workshop for coaches and referees on July 10-12.

“The three-day workshop is for coaches and referees to try and improve the standards of the game to meet international standards.”

There is only one qualified match official in the league.

“The league so far has one qualified referee and five coaches and so the workshop is meant to train and increase the number of referees to officiate at the five-a-side soccer matches,” said Banda.
