RECENTLY premiered movie Escape which has received rave reviews around the country will be released in Bulawayo today with 10 000 copies set for distribution in the city.

The movie will be distributed in conjunction with Zimpapers through the group’s vendors dotted around the city. It will be sold for a dollar. So far in Harare, under the same arrangement, over 30 000 copies have been sold to the public.

Joe Njagu, the movie’s director said they were in Bulawayo because of demand for the movie in the city.

“We’re in Bulawayo because we’ve heard complaints from people that they can’t find any copies of the movie’s DVD. So we’ll hold a road show around and sell the movie from the movie bus,” said Njagu.

He said they were hoping to also premiere the movie in Bulawayo.

“We’re planning to have a premiere here and are working on the logistics. We’ll have a definite date next Monday,” he said.

The 90-minute film, which stars Munya Chidzonga, Jose Marques, Maria Wilson, Selmor Mtukudzi, Nothando Nobengula and Eddie Sandifolo was produced by Njagu, Eric Witzgall, Brendon Sole, Carolyn Sole and Stewart Corners.

It is a film about a mixed race man – Charles – who discovers from his white mother (played by Maria Wilson) that his father is Zimbabwean and is dying. Charles decides to travel to Harare to find his father.

While in Harare, he is enveloped by mysterious situations and becomes torn between two women Tsitsi (played by Nothando Nobengula) and Anna (Selmor Mtukudzi).
