ARTISTES in Nkulumane last Friday launched a virtual show to fund raise for Qinisani Day Care.

The ongoing social responsibility initiative is running under the name “Donation drive.”

The line-up, drawn from diverse genres that have been performing at the virtual show, includes Natasha, Cebo Ncube, Kzee, Kasi Princess, Kidd Eggo, Lyrical Prince, Blazed Coyote, Yamato, Desh K, Captain Sparta, God Father, Mellow Gladden, Prime Easy, Supreme Cameleon, Boss Mc and Boss Bruce.

Spearheading the show, Oxzy (real name Othiniel Mpofu), a rapper from Nkulumane, says he’s impressed by the response from the community to help the needy.

“People have been responding to the virtual show and donations in the form of clothes have been received from individuals in the past week. Although the virtual show is currently on 57 views and 13 likes many have responded to it. For me this is a good start and I’m sure numbers will rise eventually.”

Oxzy called on people to join the donation drive which is ongoing on his YouTube channel.

Together with other youths, last June, Oxzy embarked on a door-to-door collection of clothes, blankets and cash for the orphanage.

The week-long initiative resulted in the youths collecting 12 bags of clothes, blankets and US$100.

On the day they handed over the donation, Oxzy and his group took the opportunity to celebrate with the children as they roasted meat and bought drinks.

Oxzy, who has pledged to continue assisting children at the home, has asked up-and-coming artistes from Nkulumane and other areas to join him as he takes his donation drive to other digital platforms.

Meanwhile, the rapper is making preparations for the release of a video for his single Dollar for 2.

“I’m happy to announce to my supporters that on the 25th of September I will release a music video for my single, Dollar for 2. For those who don’t know it, the song is about how Zimbabweans yearn for the good old days when goods were worth $1 for 2, “ said Oxzy. — @SeehYvonne
