PRIVATE Lounge night club, the home of nudists in the capital, was nude bliss on Wednesday during the Harare International Carnival samba night, despite a lukewarm performance from the main act of the evening – the samba dancers. Momo Kings group from Brazil was met with mixed feelings as the club’s patrons expected to see a bit more flesh than they were shown.

It seems Harare strippers and raunchy dancers have set nudity standards that the Brazilians failed to live up to. Although the group’s samba moves were on point, they needed to do more than just samba to impress the scores of revellers that had come to see them.

While some were excited to see the group do their lively rhythmical dances and attempted to dance along to their moves, others preferred to watch the club’s regular strippers and performances by the famed Bev Sibanda and Zoey.

The night, which was all about semi-naked women strutting their stuff in lingerie and high heels, left party-lovers spoilt for choice on which naked body to watch.

Two stages were set up, the main one outside along Harare Street where Private Lounge is located and the other indoors.

Performances on the stages ran simultaneously, but most party lovers slowly made the trek indoors to get a glimpse of the local strippers who wasted no time in exchanging their lingerie for birthday suits.

Their routines, which were mainly performed to the background of hip-hop music, kept a significant number of male patrons glued to the stage. Some simply drooled while watching them while others wasted no time in tipping the strippers handsomely with some parting with up to $50.

So skillfully did they strip, going up and down the poles with the most amazing ease and flexibility.

Outside, raunchy dancer, Bev and the Sexy Angels gave their legion of fans some dirty dancing at its best as they danced to songs by Ricky Fire and man-of-the-moment Jah Prayzah.

Bev, who raised the curtain for Momo King, also did the famous mapostori routine where they dance to Apostolic sect accapella music while imitating the religious groups’ signature dance moves. The irony, however, was the mixture of nudity and religion.

Zoey, who came on stage after Momo King, also wasted no time in showing some skin during her entire performance.

Street performer Kapfupi and comedian Sabhuku Varaziphi also had their moments of fame in-between performances.

In the midst of all the nudity was Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Management Annastacia Ndlovu and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer Karikoga Kaseke, among other senior government officials.

The carnival festivities continue today with superstar Oliver Mtukudzi performing at the Glamis Stadium where expectations are high with people hoping for nothing but the best from the seasoned performer.
