SUNGURA musician, Peter ‘Young Igwe’ Moyo will headline a charity gig slated for Zhombe’s Zororo Growth Point on Christmas day.

Young Igwe and his Utakataka Express outfit will lead a star-studded line-up which includes veteran Dendera crooner, Allan Chimbetu, Tendai Dembo, and Gushungo.

Show promoter, Khumbulani Thekwane Ndlovu said the show, sponsored through his KTN Investments, was a way of giving back to the community.

“I and Peter Moyo who has become my young brother are both from Zhombe as you may be aware. So we decided to give back to the community and appreciate the support the people have given to the artists over the years. Of course, the tickets are being sold as a way of controlling the crowd, but all proceeds will be ploughed back into the community. Otherwise, this event is for free for people will be given drinks after buying the tickets,” said Ndlovu.

He said the show is also a way of spreading a love message amongst Zhombenites, who are popular for all wrong things, chief among them violence.

“We also want to take the show to spread the message of love among Zhombe people. The area, especially Zororo has been known for violence, but we are saying let love lead. There should be no discrimination on gender, political affiliation, colour, tribe, or whatever reason,” he said.

Ndlovu said heavy security will be in place.

“We have dealt with the issue of security and we have roped in the police and even the army. There are no security fears at all. Everyone should feel safe,” he said.

Ndlovu said plans are in place for the show to become an annual event.
