President Mugabe has consoled Shingi Mudare, the founder and lead singer of the Born Free Crew, following his mother’s death on Tuesday.
The Born Free Crew is known for its hit song “Get Connected PaNetwork yaGushungo”. Mudare’s mother, Ms Edwicy Mhiripiri died after complaining of side pains on Tuesday morning.
Said the President in his message: “It is with a deep sense of sadness that I received the news of the untimely death of Ms Edwicy Mhiripiri.
“We feel and share the pain that Shingi and his family are going through as a result of this irreparable loss. On behalf of Government, my family, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey heartfelt condolences to the Mhiripiri and Mudare families following the passing on of Ms Edwicy Mhiripiri.”
Patron of the Zimbabwe Union of Musicians and Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu said it was tragic Amai Mhiripiri had not lived long enough to witness her son’s blossoming music career.
“Shingi’s music career has risen to such a level that he has been relating with the Head of State and Government and features on the same DVD with Cde President RG Mugabe.
“On behalf of the Zimbabwe Union of Musicians, the entire music fraternity, Zanu-PF, the Ministry of Media, Information and Publicity, on behalf of my family and on my own behalf, I would like to convey our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Shingi, the Mudare and Mhiripiri families during this extremely difficult period of bereavement.”
Ms Mhiripiri was a general hand at Parirenyatwa Hospital and is survived by Shingi, his brother and a sister.
Burial arrangements are yet to be announced and mourners are gathered at number 12354 Unit N, Seke in Chitungwiza.
