THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has sent a condolence message to Dynamos FC following the tragic death of seven supporters in a car crash on their way to Ascot Stadium for the team’s league match against Chapungu in Gweru on Saturday. The deaths followed a tyre burst to their Mercedes Benz Sprinter at the 173KM peg along the Harare-Bulawayo highway at around midday. When the tyre burst, the driver lost control and the vehicle careered off the road, overturned and landed on its roof, resulting in the seven dying on the spot, while 16 were seriously injured.

In a statement, PSL chairman Peter Dube said the loss was a huge tragedy not only to the Dynamos family, but the entire nation.

“The PSL has learnt with deep sadness of the death of Dynamos FC supporters who perished in an accident on their way to Ascot Stadium in Gweru on Saturday. We mourn the lives of these football fans whose support and dedication to the game will forever be remembered. This is a great loss, not just to Dynamos FC, but the entire nation of Zimbabwe. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones and the entire football fraternity in this difficult time of mourning. May their souls rest in eternal peace,” said Dube.
