THREE teenagers from Bulawayo’s Magwegwe suburb have been arrested for allegedly stabbing another teenager following a misunderstanding.

The boys, one aged 15 and two aged 17, cannot be named for ethical reasons.

They allegedly stabbed Mandlenkosi Mlilo (18) from the same suburb with a knife after he called them small boys.

A source said the trio struck Mlilo with a brick on the forehead, assaulted him with a knobkerrie and stabbed him on the back before fleeing the scene.

The source said Mlilo collapsed at one of the boys’ homes.

“After stabbing Mlilo, the boys ran away and he chased them wanting to assault them. One of the boys ran to his home and Mlilo followed him into the house. When Mlilo got hold of the boy, he accidentally hit a kitchen cupboard and collapsed.

“It took two hours before the boy’s mother called an ambulance and Mlilo was taken to Mpilo Central hospital,” said the source.

According to the source, Mlilo is still admitted at the hospital.

Bulawayo police provincial spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the incident, saying the teenagers will appear in court this week.
