The man who mixed his way to success – Tipsy Bartender Tipsy Bartender

WE all have career choices, some are made on our own, and others by influence and others are perhaps forced. In this week’s edition, I want to talk about a man who has become a worldwide sensation of making weird and sensational cocktails.

He goes by the name Tipsy Bartender and I am sure his content may have popped up on some of your social media platforms as a suggestion, or you just may have seen a video of him doing what he does best and that is mixing alcohol.

The Tipsy Bartender is actually the brainchild of a bartender named Skyy John, who hails from the Bahamas and moved to Los Angeles in America to become an actor.

But instead, and if fate would have it he became a bartender, and created a YouTube empire.

The Tipsy Bartender concept is largely a social media gathering of drinking enthusiasts, devoted to inspiring amateur bartenders, liquor connoisseurs, and everyone in-between.

John is a booze guru who makes drinks that I bet taste good as they appear.

He became a bartender after being turned down by several casting directors because of his accent but managed to charm his way to over 3 million YouTube subscribers.

John’s videos tend to have several elements in common: they feature colourful beverages, attractive women as John’s assistants, and convey a fun-loving atmosphere.

This formula has proven to be a hit with the online audience.

In one of his interviews John said mixology is an art that requires dedication.

“The most important component of a good cocktail is you, the person that I am serving. You have to like what I am giving you. The easiest way to accomplish that is to build a cocktail using some ingredients that you already enjoy. If you like ice cream, I’ll build it around ice cream. Whatever you like, I’ll use and that mentality is what makes me a pariah in the world of mixology because most mixologists feel that they know better than you what you should be drinking,” said John.

He said most mixologists will rather prepare a cocktail with aged whiskey, organic basil, handcrafted bitters, ice from the Alps, and tell you that “Hey, this is the most perfect, best, greatest drink ever!”

“What if that person you are serving it to doesn’t like any of that? Only you know what you like. You are drinking the drink, I’m just working with you, and I am not a mixologist.

“I am here to have fun and make cocktails. Drinking is supposed to be enjoyable, not feel like a damn chemistry exam,” said John.
