‘Vendor stabbing’ pair acquitted

TWO men from Bulawayo heaved a sigh of relief after they were acquitted for allegedly stabbing a vending couple with a screw driver after failing to pay $10 for boiled eggs.

Nkosilathi Ndlovu (38) and Phathisani Ncube (33) from Lobengula suburb had been accused of stabbing Mr Brian Dube (25) twice and Ms Yolanda Shumba (25) with a screw driver when they were asked to pay after eating the eggs.

West Commonage magistrate, Ms Tancy Dube said the State failed to prove that Ndlovu and Ncube stabbed the couple.

“In coming up with the judgment, the court considered evidence that was presented and it’s clear that Ndlovu and Ncube didn’t commit the alleged offence. They are therefore acquitted and discharged,” said magistrate Dube. —@sharonbuwe
