Yoliswa Dube-Moyo, Matabeleland South Bureau Chief

Newly elected Zanu-PF War Veterans League provincial executive members have been urged to unite all former freedom fighters and mobilise members for the 2023 harmonised elections.

The new executive which was elected in Gwanda at the weekend comprises Cde Alfred Moyo as chairman, Cde Elizabeth Ndlovu as vice chairperson and Cde Clever Moyo as Secretary for Administration.

Cde Mlungisi Nyathi was elected Secretary for Commissariat while Cde Misheck Hadebe was elected Secretary for Information and Publicity.

Commenting on the election of the War Veterans League provincial executive, Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Judith Ncube challenged war veterans to demonstrate the unity they had during the liberation struggle.

“Freedom will always be endangered if those who brought it are not partaking in its preservation. You can’t say you brought the country to the people and you no longer want to be involved in politics. You are the owners of the process; you know where this country is coming from. We’re asking you comrades to be the beacon of hope and remembrance,” said Cde Ncube. 

Cde Abednico Ncube, who is also a Politburo member, encouraged party members to be united as the 2023 elections draw nearer.

“We need to be united and mobilise for the coming 2023 elections. The whole province, from Beitbridge to Plumtree should be united and know that our role is to mobilise for our President,” said Cde Ncube.

The province has recommended Cdes Ntombiyakhe Ndlovu from Bulilima, Ruth Maboyi from Beitbridge, Majaha Ncube from Matobo and Mangwe’s Cde Jabulani Dube for the War Veterans League national executive.

Meanwhile, the party has set dates for its 7th Congress which will be held from October 26 to 29.

This is contained in a circular released by the party’s Secretary for Administration Cde Obert Mpofu, which sets in motion the process that will be followed ahead of the congress.

Already, the revolutionary party has dispensed with the women and youth league elective conferences with the War Veterans League conference set for this month. – @Yolisswa
