Zim records 36 new cholera cases

ZIMBABWE has recorded 36 new cholera cases, 14 of them confirmed with reports that one more person had succumbed to the water-borne disease
Statistics from the daily cholera situational report show that the suspected cases were reported from Bindura (1), Mazowe (3), Zvimba (1), Chegutu (1), Mhondoro-Ngezi (1), Beitbridge (5),Buhera (3),Mutasa (1), Makoni (2),Mutare Rural (3), and Chimanimani (1).
The 17 cholera hotspot districts in the country are Buhera, Chegutu, Chikomba, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Chitungwiza, Chiredzi, Harare, Gokwe North, Marondera, Mazowe, Shamva, Mutare, Murehwa, Mwenezi, Seke and Wedza.
On February 12 this year, Zimbabwe recorded its first cholera outbreak in Chegutu town, Mashonaland West Province
“To date, cases have been reported in all 10 provinces of the country since the beginning of 2023 and these have no epidemiological link to each other. As of Sunday, a cumulative total of 1 285 suspected cholera cases, nine laboratory-confirmed deaths, 26 suspected cholera deaths, and 348 laboratory-confirmed cases were reported.”
