Busy pool transfer window closes Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA)

The 2022 Bulawayo Provincial Pool Association (BPPA) transfer window has closed paving way for the resumption of the second half of the season.

During the mid-season break, the league saw a massive number of player transfers happening as clubs tried to beef up their teams.

Speaking to Chronicle Sports, BPPA marketing and publicity officer, Ozzy Dziko said they hope that the second half of the league will be competitive and exciting after the transfer window.

“We are looking forward to a competitive and exciting second half of the league taking into effect the changes brought about as a result of the mid-season transfers,” said Dziko.

A total of 32 transfers were made during the window, including the signing of the most sought-after former BPPA Secretary General Raphael “Boss Kuchaz” Mkucha by the legendary Chillers Pool Club.

Mkucha has reunited with “Sir Wadex” thus forming a solid doubles partnership.

According to the secretary general of Bulawayo Pool Association, Nomore Muzvidziwa the other transfers are as follows:

Log leaders Entumbane Pool Club signed Lindani Gumbo from Queens Pool Academy and Mkitaryan Moyo from PSG Pool Club of Harare.

Stephen Paswani also left Queens Pool Academy and retraced his roots back to Kings Pool Club. Queens also lost another player in Anthony Sibanda, who cut short his stay at the club to join Nkulumane Pool Club.

Entumbane also acquired the services of Adriel Samuel Shamu from Harare’s Under One Room. Mzilikazi district’s Fast Cash signed Gift Moyo from Nkulumane Pool Club.

Nkulumane also managed to extend Raphael Khan’s stay at the club to the end of the season.

Another club that also retained players is Kings Pool Club after they got eight of their players to stay.

The players are Eshca Chimbwanda, Kamohelo Dube, Pakanati Jimu, Clive Mpofu, Tafadzwa Mashangwe, Malvern Mukonza, Stanley Ngwenya and Paswani MuchineripiPardon Chinogwira left his younger brother with Doc Archie at Southwold Originals to settle at Nkulumane Pool Club.

Bvunzawabaya Randolph left the Emganwini based Southwold Chikavangwena to join Nkulumane Pool Club.

Arguably the busiest team on the market, Nkulumane Pool Club has sought the services of Kamwara Takudzwa, Manyeruke Kenny, Katazo Tinashe, Ngwenya Nkosichasisa, Sipho Sibanda and Pretorius Peter Sibanda.

Terrence Mhindu left Southwold Originals and went back home to play on united tables at the mighty Exchange Pool Club.

Trynos Masunda rejoins Exchange Pool Club after a six-month stint with Zimra Pool Club.

Brain Dziko left the diaspora right in time to feature for Exchange Pool Club in the second half of the season.

Exchange Pool Club could not let go the services of their trusted lieutenants Makhosini Maphosa, Ozzy Dziko, Shelton Mharadzano and Courage Mkandla whose contracts had expired mid-season.

The man of the moment Timothy Sakala Onida is on his way to the invincible Kings Pool Club.

The taxmen, Zimra have surrendered the services of Doctor Sladen Tangi Mkondo, Edmore Makampani and Prevailer Mugova who were “enticed with brisket and fillet” by the recently crowned heroes tournament champions Lobengula Sharks.

Lobengula Sharks have recruited Douglas Maphisa. Makombera Samuel Osama has left Zimra Pool Club to rejoin Dragons Pool Club.

Ntandoyenkosi Matsheza and Mpumelelo Max Ndlovu have rejoined Skittle inn Pool Club from DragonsCovenant TK Takaindisa has dumped the ambitious Queens Pool Academy and settled at Skittle Inn Pool Club.

Norman “Nomara” Chisuva at Lobengula Sharks retraced his roots to the mighty Kings Pool Club.
To compensate for their huge loss Queens Pool Academy engaged the services of Meketso Dube and Arnold Ndlovu.

The Academy snatched youngsters Richard Mushobe, Craig Nkala and Golden Ndhlazi from Lobengula Sharks and Thabo Ngwenya from Mzilikazi district’s Real Caravan.

Zimra recruited Emmanuel Charuka from ZRP Central as a direct replacement of Osama Tawanda Charuka and Winston Kumbirai also joined the tax collectors.

Daniel “Black Widow” Sibanda will also be displaying his white ball tricks at Zimra Pool Club after being denied a piece of braaied liver at Lobengula Sharks. Richman Mabhena also left Lobengula Sharks for Southwold Originals.

In a bid to scale up from the basement of the log table, Ace Basement Pool Club has recruited the services of Albert Ndlovu, Nyasha Muzvidzwa, Desmond Mbayiwa, Marshall Kaphiri and Ntando Ndlovu.

Dziko said they hope to professionalise the sport and move it out of bars and other beer consumption outlets so as to do away with the stereotype that the sport is for drunkards.

“As it stands, pool is deemed as a sport for drunkards yet to the contrary it’s a professional indoor sport that may surpass other high rated sport codes and will soon be ranked among the most followed sports,” said Dziko.
