A SENIOR Matabeleland North Zanu-PF official, Cde Dumile Sibanda was yesterday laid to rest at his rural home in St Pauls, Lupane.

A few mourners, mainly close relatives, led by Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Obert Mpofu and his wife Sikhanyisiwe and Matabeleland North Zanu-PF provincial chairperson, who is also Matabeleland North Minister of Provincial Affairs, Cde Richard Moyo attended the funeral wake owing to the Covid-19 protocols.

Speaker after speaker described Cde Sibanda as dedicated Zanu-PF party cadre who gave his all for the success of the party in the province.

The late Cde Sibanda had risen through the ranks in the party to become a member of the Zanu-PF National Consultative Assembly.

“Today we lay to rest one of the most dedicated party cadres in the province. We all saw him how he campaigned for the party, helping us recruit party members and pushing the party agenda. He had Zanu-PF flowing in his veins and would also ensure that his family supports the ruling party, which is why his very own family constituted a cell meaning they were all Zanu-PF members and supporters.

“We don’t know who will replace him in the province, although we are happy that his brother Mthokozisi who is taking over as the Village head has vowed to continue where Cde Dumile left off as the new head of the family,” said Cde Mpofu in addressing the mourners.

Cde Sibanda was famous in the province for his whirlwind recruitment strategies where he would go on door-to-door campaigns with his wife Loveness Moyo and his three children imploring people to join the ruling party.

“This was a man who knew how to campaign for the ruling party, he would go to extremes campaigning for the party. He would attend Zanu-PF meetings and all party business with his family. As a province we are at a great loss,” said Zanu-PF provincial chairperson, Cde Richard Moyo.

Cde Sibanda is survived by his wife Loveness Moyo, and three children; two sons Muzukhona Emmanuel Sibanda and Mbongeni Arnold Sibanda and daughter Amanda Nothanda Sibanda.
