In a statement Delta Beverages said the annual competition would allow budding artistes to rub shoulders with more established ones.

Delta Beverages said this year’s competitions coincided with the Chibuku brand’s 50th anniversary.

“Chibuku turns 50 this year, and at the Chibuku Road to Fame 2012 edition we hope to reward our loyal consumers with a feast of the best of local music. More importantly, for Chibuku, the Road to Fame is about celebrating music and rewarding the men and women behind the music that brings so much enjoyment to our lives”, said Delta Beverages in a statement.

Delta Beverages said Chibuku Road to Fame gives budding artistes the chance to win a recording contract.

“The talent search programme is held as a partnership between the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and Delta Beverages’ Chibuku brand. Since 2001 the programme has searched for, unveiled and promoted talented but traditionally disadvantaged young musicians from across the country.

“The winning artistes from the 10 provinces stand a chance to win a lucrative recording contract to truly set them along their road to fame,” said Delta Beverages.

Delta Beverages said Oliver Mtukudzi would grace the occasion and congratulate the winner of the competition.“Senior superstar Oliver Mtukudzi is one  of the patrons of the Chibuku Road to Fame and is expected to grace the event and congratulate the next generation of stars as they compete for the national crown,” said Delta Beverages.
