One of the lodges in the city, Glen Lodge will this year afford lovers an opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style with a unique function.

Glen Lodge director, Beauty Bhulu said the festivities will begin in the afternoon and run until late at night.

“Obviously there are those who want to pamper and lavish their loved ones during the day so we will first serve lunch and then hold a dinner later in the evening.

“This is the first time we hosting a Valentine’s event and we intend to make it a memorable night,” she said.

She said a cosy, romantic dinner was on the cards at the lodge for today, where an intimate environment will allow lovers to celebrate the day in a serene setting.

Bhulu said they would be bringing in two disc jockeys from ZiFM, DJ Tony Friday and Zandile ‘Zaza’ Ndlovu who are expected to serenade lovers with mellow tunes during their dinner.

Local urban wear store, Born Stunna will host a Valentine gig featuring some of the city’s most prominent young artistes. The show, set to take place tomorrow at Bulawayo Theatre from 4pm, will feature former Idols winner, Erick Moyo, Jibilika winning dance crew, Antivirus and vernacular rap quartet, Kasi Lunatics among others.

Organiser of the show Leroy Mufudzi said the show was a platform to advertise the Born Stunna brand while also giving young people an opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style.

“The show is about giving young people a platform to celebrate Valentine’s Day while watching performances that appeal to their musical taste. We also want to take the opportunity to advertise what we have to offer as Born Stunna,” he said.

Entertainment manager at one of the city’s most prominent nightspots, Hustlers Leisure Centre, Simon Gamha has also promised revellers a night to remember as they have a number of activities lined up. Activities include games between men and their female counterparts. A lot of prices will be up for grabs.

“We have a number of fun activities planned for the night. Previously we as Hustlers have commemorated Valentine’s Day with big celebrations and this is a tradition that we want to continue this year. Due to the fact that this year’s valentine falls on a Thursday we have extended the festivities to Saturday were we are going to have a couple’s night-out,” he said.

Rainbow hotel will host a Valentine’s Day dance whereby a number of prizes will be given away, including tickets to some of the city’s bumper weekend entertainment attractions. Starting at 6pm and hosted by actress and socialite Sarah Mpofu, the show will see gift vouchers and tickets given away for Saturday’s Nama awards and Sandra Ndebele’s album launch tomorrow.

Manager at local joint Club Forty40 has also promised a Valentine’s Day to remember as prominent South African DJ is set to showcase his skills on the decks. The show kicks off at 9pm.

“People should come in their numbers because this will be a show to remember. Couples are especially invited as we have a lot in store for them,” he said.
