A MAN and his two children who were burnt to ashes in Woolandale, Umguza, about two weeks ago are yet to be buried as their relatives are struggling to raise money for burial, forcing them to resolve to bury the children in the same coffin.

Ranganai Moyo (30), his daughter (3) son (1) were burnt beyond recognition while sleeping in a hut in their home on September 20 at about 11PM and their remains are still at the United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary.

Moyo’s wife Privilege Chikomo survived the inferno as she had gone to pray at a shrine.

In an interview yesterday, the family spokesperson Mrs Joyce Ndebele said the family was desperate as it does not have money to bury the three.

“We are yet to bury them. We don’t have any money for burial. We don’t have money to buy coffins, transport and even food,” said Mrs Ndebele.

She said failure to bury the three was traumatising the family considering the way they died.

“They died in a very horrific way and it pains us that their bodies are still being held at United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary. The hospital has released the bodies to us but we can’t just take them away. It is a desperate situation. We have resolved that the two children be put in a single coffin while the father should have his own coffin. All this requires money and as we speak we have nothing. We don’t even have money to go around doing errands necessary during burial preparations,” she said.

Mrs Ndebele said the family was therefore appealing for assistance from well-wishers to help them bury their loved ones.

“We can’t quantify the exact amount that we need. We are appealing for any form of assistance both in kind and cash. Those who may be willing to assist us can contact my sister Janet Moyo on 0779159492,” said Mrs Ndebele.

She said they were hoping to bury the three at West Park Cemetery in Bulawayo.

Moyo’s widow Ms Privilege Chikomo also appealed for clothing and blankets from members of the public.

“I lost my family as well as the property that we had. I’m appealing for assistance with blankets and clothing,” said Ms Chikomo.
