LATEST: How Mine-Caps United match abandoned without a ball kicked

The match between CAPS United and How Mine scheduled for Luveve Thursday at the 3pm has been abandoned after the Makepekepe players failed to show up in protest against unpaid sign-on fees and bonuses.

The road fracas happened in Ntabazinduna after angry fans caught up with the players’ bus which was on the road to Harare.

The players indicated that they will not play until the issue of their outstanding payments was addressed.

Referee Philani Ncube had to call off the game after more than 45 minutes of waiting. Premier Soccer League chief executive Kenny Ndebele said he was not aware of the latest embarrassing developments from Luveve and would wait for the match commissioners’ report.

“I am not aware that the match failed to take place. I will have to get official communication from the match commissioner,” said Ndebele.

How Mine are likely to be awarded the game on a 3-0 scoreline as the Green Machine have all but killed their rhythm ahead of the Harare derby against Dynamos on Monday at the National Sports Stadium. Makepekepe are also likely to be fined for tarnishing the image of the game.
