IT IS 15 weeks before the Miss World contest and Miss World Zimbabwe Annie Mutambu is hard at work on her Beauty with a Purpose project where she is raising awareness and money for the less privileged. The Miss World finals will be held on December 19 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. The last time Mutambu was in the spotlight was when she was robbed of her lap top and cellphone in June, three days after her crowning.

Miss Zimbabwe Trust spokesperson Tendai Chirau said Mutambu’s silence did not mean she was not preparing for the Miss World pageant. “Miss World Zimbabwe has been hard at work behind the scenes raising awareness and money for her Beauty with a Purpose project, targeting albinos who are suffering from cancer. She has been visiting organisations that work with those suffering from that ailment,” said Chirau.

“In some instances there are families she has been working with to help them with their children or family members that suffer from cancer”. The Beauty with a Purpose project in the finals awards the contestant with the most relevant and important charity project in her nation, with the winner automatically making it to the semi-finals.

He said there was a slight delay in releasing what they were doing to the nation due to funding of the project. “What has been pulling us back is that there’s a donor who’s set to give funds for the project. This donor’s name will be released next week and people should know that Annie was the one who looked for the donor,” said Chirau.

He said Mutambu was working on getting her body in shape in time for the finals. “Apart from the Beauty and the Purpose project Annie has been working on keeping her weight and fitness in check. This is all part of the Miss World preps. She hasn’t been doing nothing, it’s only that we haven’t been communicating to the public her activities,” said Chirau.

He said unlike previous years by the time Mutambu was supposed to leave she would be fully prepared to participate at the world pageant. “Definitely Annie will be ready for the pageant and she’s expected to leave on November 19 for China for the Miss World boot camp. Next week we shall give more details on her details,” said Chirau.
