ONE of the greatest lamentations that Covid-19 brought was that of distancing people from their loved ones and rapper Wayne Lamar has produced a song about that.

The song is called Quarantine and features Lilly. Wayne Lamar (real name Wayne Dube) could not bear the pain of not seeing his lover as often as he would love to because of the lockdown regulations.

“The song is about the pain of missing your other half amidst the medical storm that the world is facing nowadays and talks about how two souls long to be in each other’s arms, but social distancing makes life feel like a quarantine,” said Lamar.

Yes, Lamar (Not Kendrick though) is finally living his dream of being a musician. Early on in life, he would sing to his siblings in what would save as a premonition to what would one day become a reality.

In high school, he joined the school choir so as to hone his vocal skills to better prepare himself for the challenging world of entertainment.

Up-and-coming artistes will tell you of how they face challenges with music producers who do not do justice when mixing and mastering songs done by people that they are either ignorant of or look down upon.

Without getting into names, Lamar conceded such an occurrence the industry, “If you are an up-and-coming artiste, it’s all about who you know if you want your music to go big.”

“The music industry is tough as music producers treat artistes differently. No matter how good you are, it will eventually go down to who you know,” said Wayne Lamar.

The Cowdray Park-based rapper has set his sights on releasing his debut album titled “If all is not lost, where is it?” that will feature the song Quarantine.

On the inspiration behind the album, the 22-year-old rapper had this to say.

“Laws of physics state that energy is never lost, but is transformed from one place to another and the same applies to love. Love is universal and is never lost, but transferred. So, I have always had that question: Where is it that is not lost?”

Among the tracks that would be on the debut album include Higher (featuring Metamorphic), Lullaby, Anxiety (featuring Jilly the Black, Kelvin and Trippy A), Closer together (featuring Frost) and Stamina (featuring Gunnz).

The album will tackle issues of love including acceptance, rejection and will also reflect on Lamar’s personal journey in the age-old heartstrings-based game called love.

Lamar is open to collaborations and his debut album’s tracklist is testament to his hunger to broaden his musical knowledge and to complement it with other artistes’ ideas and experiences.

“I’m willing to collaborate with any artist because I believe in the power of unity,” he said.

Wayne’s ambition is to become famous one day and he believes his upcoming album will be a hit and will pave way for him enroute to stardom. – @eMKlass_49
