SELF-proclaimed Ninja president, Winky D, proved his mettle when he gave a spirited performance at Musopero Bar in Gweru on Friday. Never one to disappoint, Winky D was the toast of the day as he left fans clamouring for more at the show which featured top Zimdancehall musicians, Souljah Love, Seh Calaz and Freeman.

But like any other local show, the event started late, leaving fans fuming. Impatient revellers threw empty cans onto the stage after waiting for a very long time to see the artistes perform. Eventually, Souljah Love, who is now known for missing shows, took to the stage just after midnight.

Known as “Chibaba”, Souljah Love did not disappoint as he performed crowd favourites such as Ndini Uya Uya and Mese Kuno among others.

After performing for close to an hour, he handed over the mic to his former rival, Seh Calaz at about 1AM. Seh Calaz, an award winning artiste who rose to stardom with songs such as Mabhanditi, Mumota Murikubvira and Kwatinobva Kwakasiyana, started well but almost lost the plot when he attempted to sing a diss track titled Sauro which was aimed at Souljah Love.

A few unruly fans threw cans onto the stage and the artiste quickly read the situation and changed the song. After Seh Calaz, came the Ninja president who was clad in an Arabic headgear. His playlist, which was a mixture of both old and new tracks, managed to keep fans on their feet. His was a well-choreographed act that was well received by fans.

Apart from the musical extravaganza, revellers felt short-changed by organisers of the show who charged $2 for local beers and $3 for ciders. They said the prices were too high considering that Delta Beverages last week slashed beer prices.

Another hiccup were the ablution facilities which proved to be insufficient for the big crowd.
