South African afro-soul musicians, Nathi Mankayi and Vusi Nova have urged fans to pull out their best set of shoes and prepare to make history.

The two musos perform at the much-hyped Second Coming concert at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Speaking from his SA base, Nathi, who was recently nominated for two South African Music Awards (Sama) promised to deliver his best as he is aware his songs, especially Nomvula, are making waves in Bulawayo.

“I’m certainly excited to be coming to Bulawayo because I’ve heard my songs are doing well there. Fans should come in their numbers because this will be one show to remember,” Nathi said.

“The Sama nominations are obviously a plus to me and the Bulawayo show will be more of a celebration with my fans because being nominated is an achievement in itself.”

Nathi who went from prison to stardom, selling over 100,000 copies of his debut album – Buyelekhaya has been very vocal about the time he spent in prison for armed robbery. In 2002, he together with his friends robbed a person in the township and were sentenced to eight years in prison.

“I still regret the robbery and know that if it wasn’t for my friends, I wasn’t going to do it. I grew up in a Christian family where we’d sing before we pray every night. We took turns opening each prayer session with a song and that’s when my singing talent started,” he said.

Vusi Nova, real name Vusi Nongxo said he will be sampling old and new tracks, including a duet with Nathi, which he will feature on his next album due for release next month.

Other artists that will feature at the Second Coming include Bucie, Cash time’s Kid X, MTV VJ Nomuzi Mabena, fondly known as “Moo-zlie” and Cal_Vin. Moo-zlie will be the host at the show.

Meanwhile, the South African artistes are expected in Bulawayo on Friday with a VIP party scheduled for Horizon Night Club on the same night. But before partying, the stars will make an appearance at the Miss Africa Zimbabwe finals taking place in the Bulawayo CBD.
