COMEDIAN Clive Chigubhu and poet Njabulo Moyo will next month spearhead an anti-corruption essay writing competition for pupils in Bulawayo and Matabeleland provinces. Both artistes lead the anti-graft campaign following their appointment as Transparency International Zimbabwe (Tiz) ambassadors to help spread awareness toward eliminating this social vice.

Tiz director Mary-Jane Ncube said the essay competition was meant to motivate young people to fight against corruption.

“The essay writing contest seeks to provide a platform for young people to share their ideas, opinions and experiences on how to combat corruption in the country,” said Ncube.

Pupils in primary and secondary schools in and around Bulawayo and Matabeleland North and South provinces will battle it out in the essay writing competition that runs from February 1 to 28.

“Pupils aged between 13 to 15 years and 16 to 18 years will be required to focus on what young people can do against corruption in their communities,” Ncube said.

The competition, running under the theme: “Young People’s Voices”, will see pupils winning Samsung smartphones, Mp3 players, bicycles, a school fees voucher worth $200, book voucher ($150) and a uniform voucher ($100).

Adjudicators for the competition will include representatives from the ministry of education, one from the Youth for Transparency and Integrity Clubs (YIC) and Accountability Monitoring Committees (AMC).
