POLICE in Bulawayo are appealing for information that might lead to the arrest of Clifford Phiri who allegedly killed his wife and threw the body into a disused well about two weeks ago.

The woman’s body, which was almost decomposing, was found by her father last Thursday near a farm in Nyamandlovu.

Phiri (38) approached Margaret Ndlovu (21)’s father after the alleged murder and told him that she was missing.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident saying Phiri is wanted for murder.

He said police have since recovered blood-stained clothes and shoes belonging to Phiri.
Insp Ncube said the murder occurred on August 29 at around 6PM in Nyamandlovu.

“The accused person Clifford Phiri a male adult aged 38 years of Woodcroft farm, Nyamandlovu had a misunderstanding over infidelity issues with the now deceased Margaret Ndlovu. Phiri assaulted the now deceased with sticks all over the body and this was witnessed by a neighbour who informed the now deceased’s father,” said Insp Ncube.

He said on the same day at around 9PM Phiri went to the now deceased’s father purporting to be looking for her saying she was missing.

Ndlovu’s father later made a missing person report at ZRP Cowdray Park on August 31 at around 6.30PM.-@thamamoe.
