Triangle 5-1 Dongo Sawmill

DONGO Sawmill became the first team to be relegated from the Castle Lager Soccer League Premiership after they were blasted apart by a Triangle inspired by Tawanda Muyendi’s hat-trick at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.

The Manicaland side cannot avoid the chop even if they win all their remaining three games.

Their coach Shadreck Mugurasave refused to entertain the media after the match.

But Triangle coach Kelvin Kaindu was happy to see his men turn on the style.

“We can call it sweet victory because it has been quite a while, we’ve struggled even to score goals at home in the second round,” said Kaindu.

“We managed to get an early goal and it helped our confidence.

“We hope we’ve picked up our form going into our remaining fixtures.

“We’re not worried about our away games but we were a bit worried about how we were playing at home but scoring five shows if we keep on like this we can consolidate our position and finish in the top four.”

Triangle scored as early as the sixth minute with Muyendi heading home from close range after Chasten Ngondonga’s initial effort from the corner kick was saved by Dongo ’keeper Farai Samunyayi.

Substitute Blessing Dzumbunu equalised for the visitors in the 35th minute.

Triangle were forced to replace injured goalkeeper Ashley Reyners shortly after the break.

Muyendi scored his second in the 49th to put the hosts in front for the second time after brilliant work by Praise Tonha.

Muyendi then won a penalty in the 56th minute when he was brought down by Kudzai Chideu and Tonha sent the ’keeper the wrong way in the 58th minute.

From there, there was only one result.

“I dedicate all the goals to my teammates because we played as a unit,” said Muyendi.
