ZiFM Stereo’s Youth Zone (YZone) host — Mona Lisa Dube recently bagged the International Coaching and Mentoring Foundation (ICMF) Youth Coach of the Year award.

Blessing Duri, the President of the International Coaching and Mentoring Foundation said they awarded Mona Lisa for the contribution her show was making towards youth development.

“We’ve been listening to her show throughout the year and we felt her work deserved an award. We look forward to working with her in the coming year,” said Duri.

The YZone is a youth programme that airs on the radio station at 6:30PM on Tuesdays. Mona Lisa who also produces the “Exhale Block”, a popular show hosted by Patience Musa said she was humbled.

“This award has proved to me that hard work always pays off. I love what I do and I’m really passionate about youth issues. Being awarded means a lot to me. I don’t take it for granted,” said the 23-year-old journalist who is studying for an honours degree in Media and Society Studies at the Midlands State University.

“Working and studying at the same time is not easy but I’m coping.”

She thanked ZiFM Stereo for supporting her career and giving her a platform to shine.

“I’d like to give special thanks to Tendai Madondo and Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa for the unwavering support.”

Speaking at the handover ceremony, former ZiFM station manager, Tendai Madondo who is now the managing director for Hevoi FM and 94.6 radio stations described Mona Lisa as a hard working young lady adding that she deserved the award.

The International Coaching and Mentoring Foundation is a trust dedicated to support, develop and preserve the standards of professional coaches in Zimbabwe. Their aim is to empower young people to navigate life with self awareness and responsibility and sense of purpose.
