A 21-YEAR-OLD hooker stole R11,000, $550 and two cellphones from a Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) official before locking him in a hotel room.

Police arrested Vanessa Makota of Manhede in Masvingo, who is allegedly in the habit of changing surnames, in Victoria Falls this week after she had been on the run for a month.

She pleaded guilty to theft and the magistrate, Godswill Mavenge remanded her in custody to today for sentencing.

Prosecuting, Pernson Chekeya told the court that on February 2 this year the complainant went to Kalahari Sports Bar in Beitbridge, where he met Makota.

The man asked for sexual favours and the two agreed to spend the night at a local hotel where Makota had sought overnight accommodation.

Chekeya said later that night, Makota woke up and stole R11,000 and $550 and two Samsung smart phones which were in the complainant’s pockets.

Makota locked the man in the hotel room and checked out leaving the keys at the reception.

The court heard the complainant was awakened by hotel staff who wanted to clean the room at around 7AM.

The matter was reported to the police who arrested Makota on Tuesday afternoon.

The money and the cellphones were not recovered.
