PRESIDENT Mugabe will now visit the Midlands Province on September 1 for the seventh Presidential Youth Interface Rally, instead of September 2 as previously announced.

Zanu-PF Youth League Secretary Cde Kudzanayi Chipanga announced the change in dates last night. “The Youth Interface Rally is now going to be held on September 1, which is a Friday and not September 2,” he said. “This is because of other pressing commitments.”

The Midlands rally is the seventh Presidential Youth Interface Rally after President Mugabe held other successful such rallies in Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland North, Mashonaland West and Matabeleland South in recent months.

The province targets to mobilise 100 000 youths for the event to be held in Mkoba suburb.

Midlands Province set the tone this week with an inter-district meeting that was attended by thousands of youths, legislators and Zanu-PF Politburo and Central Committee members.

The inter-district meeting was also attended by members of the Zanu-PF Youth League national executive.

Addressing the meeting on Wednesday, Cde Chipanga said the province was leaving no stone unturned to ensure a successful gathering.

“Preparations have been going on for a while, but everything is now gathering momentum,” he said. “We are going into the final quarter and everyone is putting maximum effort.

“The President will be interfacing with the youths at the Mkoba Open Space.”
